Andrew Sprawson was born and raised in Johannesburg. A predominantly self-trained artist, Sprawson’s work draws on nostalgia as a means of connecting with the viewer. Producing broadly accessible works, which positively affect the audience, is paramount to his artistic practice.

Having exhibited extensively on group shows, Precious Territory was his first solo show.

“Nostalgia is a strong influence in my work. I am deeply interested in the way that memory can create a direct link between intellectual, psychological and physical spaces.”
